If We Were Having Coffee

I am not proud of my week. This week has been a lazy, unproductive week, but instead of feeling bad about it or moping around the house, I’m going to make this weekend and next weekend super productive so that when next Saturday comes around I will actually have something to discuss over coffee.

So as you have probably guessed by that title, this week has not been the best in terms of creativity. All the bits and bobs for buying the new house are moving along well enough, but I’ve struggled to get on and write anything or get any real studying under my belt.

The novel, well I’ve started three different chapters for Dawn Shadows and all them are sitting at about a paragraph and a bit long without any signs of growth. Deciding that my novel was only halfway done when I originally estimated that it would be almost done has knocked me back and I’m struggling to pick up the pen and write. [Metaphorically.] I also haven’t done much for the blog this week and Friday saw me missing my free-write all together, even though I’d only started the challenge to myself three weeks ago. I did manage a poem on Monday but that was it. Apart from When Spring Announces It’s Arrival, this week has been pretty devoid of creativity. img_1384-0

I have been reading though and I’m now only a couple of books behind schedule for my Goodreads Reading Challenge. I told myself that I would read at least fifty books this year and the challenge is more to make sure that I finish fifty books instead of starting numerous books and taking ages to get through them because I’m reading about twenty different ones at once. That means of course that come Wednesday, I will have plenty to talk about in my May reading round up. The last one I did was for March but since I didn’t read much in April I didn’t see the point of writing one. You can find my Confessions Of  A Bookworm here. I love these WWW Wednesdays posts. Since reading plays such an important part in my writing process, it’s great to have an outlet to talk about books and it falls just outside the realms of traditionally reviewing because it looks at what you are reading, what you have just read and what you will be reading next. You can do this once a week but I tend to stick to once a month.

I’m hoping this week will be better in terms of creativity and motivation. It seems silly that a couple of weeks ago I was busy writing all these posts and tips on how to stay motivated and now I’ve hit my own slump. I want to try and get some blogs schedules for next week today and tomorrow, which is not something I normally do, but hopefully it will free up my week to focus on studying. The most productive bits of my week were beating my personal best on the treadmill [5k in 34 minutes] and reorganising my book shelves only to realise that there really isn’t enough room any more and when we get the new house a trip to Ikea will be needed.

But enough about my boring week. I want to hear about the rest of you? How have you all been? Have you found yourself in a slump or perhaps your week has been really productive, let me know in the comments.
