And I wondered
if the sight of me wavering
excited you.
Like a candle flame dancing,
your palm held
just inside the heat.
Contemplating the risk
of snuffing me out altogether.
Extinguishing that light
with one blow
one fist closing tight.
Did I excite?
Not the exact word for tonight’s Quadrille prompt, but a form of it is there, and according to the rules that’s alright.

Powerful words Carol. Thanks for joining in.
I wonder if it’s from fear of the fire that he uses his fists… real powerful words…
There is such emotion in these words….in this situation. The idea of the palm snuffing out the candle…and a person, with palm and fist having the capacity to snuff out the light/life.
Conjures the dire specter of domestic abuse very tidily.
Oh the games people play with each other. If only it were simple.
Indeed
I like your comparison of “wavering” to “a candle flame dancing”.
Thank you Frank.
This has a captivating S&M sensuality to it Carol — or perhaps that’s just me.
Not my intention, but to each their own. Thanks for stopping by Rob.
Kind of a brave retort there at the end with that menacing fist balled up! You played out quite the scene in so few words, quite well.

Thank you.
Those are dangerous games to play. Good one.
Thank you Grace.
Lovely image! And the rhyming at the end surprised me. (in a good way)
Surprised me too
