Time tests all things,
makes steady work of wearing out
these old duds,
till they fall off and run like sand
along the length of your hourglass,
or come back into fashion,
following along worn grooves
and ever turning cycles
deepening down each mark.
I’ve been absent again, and I’m late to the game for this week’s quadrille prompt. The reason for both of these is in the picture below.
Born weighing 6 pounds and 8 ounces, my little Athena. She is both a fountain of inspiration, and the adorable menace keeping my from my keyboard most days.
“makes steady work of wearing out
these old duds,
till they fall off and run like sand”
Lovely. 🙂
Whaaaaat?!? Skip poetry for a mere baby?!? What is WRONG with you, woman?????
Snap out of it. Open that keyboard and get busy!!! SLACKER!!!
I know, I’m a disgrace to poetry 🤣
Aww! She is adorable. May she inspire more beautiful poetry!
😊
What a treasure! Congratulations.
Thank you.
So welcome!
Your little Athena is precious …. and your Quadrille is deep/meaningful with a message.
Oh, my! She’s a DOLL!
Love the visual you’ve chosen for this, perfectly complimenting your word pictures.
What an adorable little girl… and I love your quadrille…
Thank you Bjorn.
Wonderful news. After seeing the photo, I forgot the poem and had to read it again. Nicely done.
Loving this….most especially the beautiful photo of little Athena! 🙂
Thank you Lillian.
Congratulations! She’s beautiful! ❤
Oh my goodness, Athena is a beautiful, darling baby girl! Congratulations to you! Love this line: “…along the length of your hourglass…” so clever.
